Go for Gold: The Best Money Themed Online Slots 2018
Top online slots with money themes from Microgaming.
I was spinning the reels of Mega Money Multiplier this morning, one of the newer feature-rich slots at Royal Vegas, when I got the idea to review money themed online slots. It seemed like a great idea at the time. But then I was absolutely flabbergasted by how many money themed slot games there are!
I was under the impression that the Oriental motif was the most prevalent, over-done theme in online slot machine history. Not anymore. I guess it makes sense, though. We play slots for entertainment, but also for the hope of winning lots of cash. And as it turns out, “cash” is the most commonly used word in Microgaming’s slots portfolio.
Cash Splash, King Cashalot, Cashapillar, Cashanova, Cashville, Phantom Cash, Cash Crazy, Captain Cash… so much cash! But I digress. Of the dozens of online slot machines with money themes, these are my top 5 picks for best money slots.
Best Money Themed Online Slots
Mega Money Multiplier
This has been one of my favorites since it was first released in March of 2017. It has a 96.15% RTP, which is on par with most Microgaming non-progressives. It’s a classic 3×3 slot with 9 paylines, so it doesn’t cost much to play. Plus, it has a medium to high variance, so while those wins don’t come often, they tend to pay very well when they do.
It’s simple, it’s clean, and the red/gold motif is easy on the eyes. The multiplier factor is its greatest feature. The multiplier icons (2x, 3x, 4x, 5x) are wilds, and multiply any win by the X-number. 2x can appear on any reel, while 3x, 4x, and 5x appear only on the center reel. If a multiplier is on two or more reels, they multiply each other, creating for very high win potential!
Phantom Cash
This 5 reel, 25-line video slot has a unique theme. A pair of English ghost-busting sleuths travel to haunted houses, eradicating specters in the Victorian era.
Brimming with frighteningly ghoulish symbols and a pair of multiplier ghost-catcher wilds, this game has lots of win-boosting features and an affable RTP of 96.41%.
Kings of Cash
Another unique money themed online slots from Microgaming, this one features 5 reels, 15 lines and a 96.68% RTP. Its main characters are the Kings of playing cards (hearts, diamonds, clubs and spades).
The Kings love their cash as much as they love their Queens (maybe a little more). You’ll enjoy wilds, scatters, free spins, multipliers and a king-matching bonus card game.
Cashanova
One of Microgaming’s older releases, launched in mid-2006, Cashanova is a good choice when you’re in the mood for some good old fashioned barnyard humor.
The Cashanova character is no handsome hunk – it’s a cocky rooster looking to get lucky with the hens. With 5 reels, 30 lines, a 96.41% RTP, a low variance and multiple comical bonus rounds, it’s pretty fun game.
Mega Moolah
How could I review the best online slots with money themes and not mention Microgaming’s famous Mega Moolah? I left it for last because the RTP is only 88.12%, which isn’t so appealing as the games above. However, all progressive slots have lower RTPs, helping make up for those enormous jackpot payouts.
This game comes in multiple variants, with both 3 reel and 5 reel versions, so there’s something for everyone. Its million dollar seed averages $5+ million payouts every 10 weeks or so. Definitely one of the best money slots on the web!
